Hometree launches first TV ad
Published on: 20th September 2018
Hometree, the smart home services company, today launches an integrated advertising campaign to disrupt the boiler market. Commissioned by Snap LDN and including creative from the award winning stop motion filmmakers behind Isle of Dogs and Fantastic Mr Fox, the above-the-line campaign introduces a family of mice who bring to life the joy of a warm home made possible because of their boiler.
The beautifully crafted world of the mice family was directed by Jack Cunningham at Nexus Studios, working with Stop Motion legends Andy Gent and Tobias Fouracre. The campaign will run from the 20th September across TV and digital supported by consumer PR executed by Teamspirit Public Relations and with media being executed by Goodstuff.
Simon Phelan, CEO and Co-Founder of Hometree, said: “We’re excited about the launch of our campaign and helping people understand that buying a boiler doesn't need to be a stressful experience.
“Hometree was created to help empower people to take back control of getting a new boiler installed, and both our phone & online journeys give customers total transparency, providing them with A-class boilers at fixed prices, all professionally installed by Gas Safe Engineers at a time that suits them.
“Our new advert will give us the reach to tell many more people about the service we’re offering. The Field family – Robert, Mary and little Thomas – are a charming bunch, and have already become part of our family here at Hometree. They embody what Hometree is about – warmth and comfort in your own home.”
Jon Boardman, CEO of Snap LDN, said: “There’s too much negativity in the world already. So instead of following the conventional way of focussing on the very real stress of a boiler breaking we have brought to life the warmth of a family home. After all that’s why Hometree exist.”

The company is disrupting the boiler and home services industry through an innovative business model, putting control back into the hands of consumers where previously the industry has been opaque and uncompetitive, with limited consumer knowledge.
A huge 1.7 million boilers are installed in the UK every year, but this tends to happen only once every 10 years or so for each consumer. Since a boiler is not an everyday expense, it can be difficult for consumers to genuinely understand the product and associated costs.
Hometree offers upfront and clear online costs for boiler purchases and installations. Alongside this, customers are offered video chat advice with an engineer as well as guaranteed times for an engineer to show up at a customer’s home (ending wasted days off work).
Hometree are championing an end to high pressure sales tactics to consumers in their own home, and also offer 10-year warranties with quality guarantees.
